the long-awaited first day of spring showed up right on time, just as promised. along with it came a slight breeze. so slight in fact, that trees and fences stopped the breeze dead in its tracks. the clever folks, however, found themselves an unobstructed spot in the sun. this way, they could enjoy not only the sun’s pleasant rays but also the calming effects of the wind. laughter resonated through the town as impromptu picnics were carried out. it may have been the first day of spring, but the day seemed to emanate a carefree nature that hinted of the last day of the world. suddenly, one of the very clouds that gave birth to the wind ushered out a breeze that toppled over a half empty glass of water, ruining the ever so whimsical atmosphere. had it been half full, it may have stood a chance. picking up the glass and refilling it, they acted like nothing happened. tomorrow is only a day away.
