Long time, No Blog.
November 9, 2010
But over the course of my service, I still blogged more than I ever thought I would. To me, this 2 years is personal time more than anything. That doesn’t mean I don’t want to share my experience, it just means I don’t want to write about it all online for everybody to see. In a year or so, when I meet you again, I’d rather be able to tell you a story about my experience without the interruption ”OH, I read about this on your blog!” It was especially hard to think about ‘things to blog about’ once Cambodia began to feel more like home, after about 10 months or so. But seeing as how I still have a chunk of time left here, I’ll try to update a few times. For the most part, however, most of my updates are in the form of pictures rather than words. Here’s a link to my recent album, if you’re interested:

In terms of my life, my work, my play, etc… School started again on October 1st. Then it stopped on October 2nd. One of the major Khmer holidays, Pchum Ben, lasts for 15 days and this year it just happened to overlap with the first few weeks of school, so school didn’t actually start until October 12th. And since then there have been several other holidays already, including today, which is Cambodia’s Independence Day. And since today is a tuesday, there was no class yesterday either. Classes will resume until the end of next week, when another 3 day holiday occurs. In other words, this leaves a lot of time for play. I spent the majority of my first year in my village, only leaving for day trips and short weekend trips. Now I feel lucky to be so close to Phnom Penh and have been taking advantage of my close location to the country’s capital more often, exploring, taking pictures, eating, eating, eating…

So you intend to thwart my plan to tell YOU stories about your experience in Cambodia eh?
I intended to ignore your interruptions about writing them in your blawg too.
Oh well. As long as you don’t withold all the goods amigo. A yearish is a long time.
Photos are great btw.
Keep walkin slow, Rocco.
